Senior International Hydrogeologist

Hydro Nova is adding to our groundwater services team! We are hiring a senior international hydrogeologist with 10 years’ experience with a desire to lead various international projects in Africa, Middle East and Europe in all aspects of groundwater investigation and development. For this senior position, we encourage flexibility with the ability to work remotely from Europe and reporting to our office in Treviso, Italy.

Responsibilities

In the role of Senior International Hydrogeologist, we’ll count on you to:

  • Lead complex hydrogeologic investigations in major rock settings commonly found in the Africa, Middle East regions
  • Oversee data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation including:
    • Building complex dynamic Conceptual Site Models
    • Developing and overseeing high resolution site characterization strategies
    • Field groundwater level and quality data collection methods
    • Familiarity with design, construction and development of groundwater wells
    • Development of geologic and hydrogeologic cross-section development utilizing geologic and geophysical data
  • Geospatial and geostatistical analysis
  • Interpretation of subsurface aquifer conditions on a site and regional scale
  • Development of hydrographs and other graphic presentation of hydrogeologic data
  • Lead the assessment of groundwater potential and make recommendations for the management and/or design of a range of groundwater-based water supply infrastructure projects
  • Be viewed as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity.
  • Project management including direction of junior staff, providing technical review and oversight and mentoring
  • Report and proposal preparation including scopes of work, project budgeting, tracking, and schedules
  • Client interaction and presentations
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Skills

  • Professional Geologist (PG) certification
  • Advanced degree in Geology, Geosciences, Hydrogeology, Engineering, or closely related field
  • 10 years related experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge and background in geology and hydrogeology settings of Africa and Middle East
  • Experience designing and overseeing drilling programs
  • Experience supporting international investigations, feasibility studies, and design activities
  • Active in Professional Societies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with MODFLOW, MT3DMS and numerical and analytical related software
  • Requires ability to travel internationally
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in an international cultural setting
  • High professional proficiency in English language.

Desired Skills

  • International experience highly desirable.
  • Experience conducting hydrogeologic assessments and updating conceptual site models at managed aquifer recharge (MAR) sites or projects
  • Knowledge of international best practices in well-permitting processes as well as water rights and regulations
  • Experience implementing and assessing flow control structures
  • Experience with GIS and remote sensing applications for geology and hydrogeology
  • Live and reside in Europe, preferably in Germany or Italy.
  • English as a mother-tongue. Professional proficiency in one or more of these languages: French, Arabic, Kiswahili, Portuguese.
