Delivering Quarter-century plans to accommodate growth, preservation and restructuring
By 2010, the new Iraqi government was looking to help medium-sized cities re- build and develop sustainably. Municipalities themselves were reorganizing and needed to know where to invest and build over the next 25 years.
Hired by Italian engineering firm Studio Galli Ignegneria in partnership with Iraq’s Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works, our urban engineering team provided urban planning, water supply planning, telecommunication planning, and landscape architecture services for 10 Iraqi cities – Mosul, Babylon, Al Hinda, Sadat, Mahaweel, Khalis, Mosul, Zubaidiya, Shakh Saad, Dibis and Daquq. Today, cities across Iraq are following the urban development plans we designed to build sustainable, more livable places for over 3 million citizens. With a focus on efficient land use and redevelopment, the urban plans introduce new planning and urban design concepts to respond to the cities’ emerging growth management needs through 2037.
